I met Ken in 1962 at the Ontario Agricultural College when we lived in Maid’s Dorm. It was an interesting year. Ken then went on to other university studies. Over the more than 50 years since, we kept our special friendship even though there were gaps of many years, However, when reconnected it was as if we had not been apart for long. Our connection over the years was fishing and Whitethroat Lake was our destination. Indeed, memorable outdoor times. Ken was a master taxidermist and above my fireplace there is a wonderful mount of a large speckled trout that I caught from a wilderness river in Polar Bear Provincial Park. It is a masterpiece and every time I look at it, I think of my good friend, Ken.

We came to love Ken when we first met him in Ottawa in the 1980s. He was serious about what was important. And he had a very funny droll sense of humour. In fact he could be quite a rascal. Ken was intrepid and honest to a fault. He spoke what he believed and never pandered to power. Ken reminds us of the best of the people we knew growing up in small towns on Vancouver Island. Like them he lived closed to the land and the water and loved the wilderness. We miss him greatly.
Our sympathies to Kathy and all Ken's family. Love, Jean and Alan

Ken was such a beautiful soul that I met back here in Vancouver around 1979-1980 and kept being friends. Ken had so much love for all the friends he met and had a wonderful sense of humour and stubbornness, that I could relate as we both were Aires, butting heads, but in the end, there was this pure love for Ken as a longtime special friend that I will miss so much, for his death came on too fast, and I feel the numbness in my body and heart of his passing. I will miss your phone calls or emails, to stay connected, and that always meant so much to me. I will miss your gentle softness, but great strength, and his passion for life, nature and the pursuit of happiness. Good-bye my longtime friend, and if there really is an afterlife, I will look forward to seeing you on the other side. Miss you already, Love & Light, (-:Donna XOX.........To Eternity MY Friend!

Our deepest condolences go out to Kathleen and the family. Ken became a good friend of mine when I met him at the Taxidermy Association conference weekend in Orillia and that is where I met Kathleen his wife for the first time too. Ken you will be missed for sure. I am sorry for the suffering you past, but no more pain or suffering you shall pass no more. R.I.P. my dear friend until we meet again.
With Love
