I’m so sorry to hear of Scott’s passing. We were long time friends in elementary and high school. Classmates and football teammates. I remember his passion for his dog team and racing in the North Bay Winter fur carnival, and his work with the OPP. Sadly missed! Rest well “scooter”!

Hi my name is Emilie Babando, alias Arsenault. I only found out about Scott’s passing on this Christmas Day, while talking with my oldest brother Kevin. My heart sank as a flood of memories came to mind of Scotty during our childhood and high school days. Our family use to live next door to you on Banner Ave. I remember so much about him. His love of dogs and the outdoors, his kind ways and sense of humour ...goofing around in class. I remember him with his husky Beaver, sledding about during the winter, the snowball fights, playing scrub baseball and so may outdoor games games, until the sun went down. He was in my swimming classes at Sunset Park and was always a lot of fun. He also loved your other family dog, the cocker spaniel named Mickey. I remember how fast Mickey’s bobbed tail would wag when Scott got home from school. Beaver too would be jumping up and down while tied out front to his dog house, anxiously awaiting Scott to come see him. He so looked up to Rene and Alan. I wasn’t at all surprised to know what career he had chosen. I last saw Scott here in Timmins at a Tim Horton’s restaurant about thirteen years ago. He said he was training a new dog handler. It was great seeing him again after so many years. I have often thought of him, for he was a part of my fond, growing up memories. I won’t ever forget him. I hope your fond memories and love for him bring you all comfort. God bless and take care. Emilie

I met Scotty in 1984 a young officer in Smooth Rock Falls. Scotty with Bandit attempted to find a young male who evaded one of our senior officers. Scotty’s sense of humour on the track was very entertaining. We didn’t get our guy but Scotty told me that the back up officer had to buy coffee. He was always quick witted always around to help and was one of the reasons I became a canine handler. Rest In Peace my friend

Scottie was a seasoned dog handler and had a great sense of humour. As an OPP dog handler I worked and trained with Scottie during the 1990’s. he was always eager to lend advice and keep things light at the same time. On one training occasion I noticed that Scotties storage area in his GMC suburban dog truck was less than tidy and I mentioned that he should discard a huge hair ball that was quite noticeable. He indignantly (with a smile) pointed out that it was his working toque wit a “bit” of dog hair on it. Condolences to his family. He will be missed

Scottie was on my first canine course in 1994 for four weeks. He was a very skilled and knowledgeable handler who took the time to make sure I learned my trade and had some fun while doing it. One day he was helping me and I told him I could wait till he tied his boots and he said " no time for that". I later learned he rarely if ever tied his boots. I sure wish I could have seen the time he cut ear holes out of the snowmobile helmet for Bandit. As Jan Nickle said " Scottie has done his last track" sad to see him go.

Thoughts and prayers are with you all. Scott was way to young to be leaving you. Cherish the memories.

Scotty was a joy to have around the office up in Cochrane. Always smiling and making tough times a little easier through his sense of humour. He was a well-respected member of the OPP but still a "good old boy" at heart. Gone too soon , but not forgotten.

Rest in Peace my friend Scotty. I will never forget our District #15 tracks and how you made me keep up to you and your buddy. I will fondly remember the humour you brought into the hockey dressing room during the Choir Boys tourney. You made life fun ! Gonna miss ya ! Murph

Our deepest condolences. I got to know Scott as a member of the OPP Aux and also as the Animal Control Officer for Callander. He was always happy to share his knowledge of K9's and policing.
