Q: How did you meet Marlene?
A: With such sadness that I read this regarding Liz. I was her neighbour and friend at her townhouse in Scarborough. We were bowling partners for a few years. Once we made the move to Brampton I lost touch with Liz. I remember finding out about her cancer and kept in touch when she moved to Mattawa. I called her frequent on the phone. For no particle reason we lost touch. She was a dear friend.
Neddie if you remember me I would love to hear from you. I was devastated when I wanted to reach out on how I could contact Liz. We are sending you love and prayers. She was "One In A Million". We had great times together!!

I noticed that the photo I uploaded didn’t work. So here it is. This was last year at my place before her Cancer treatment. I gave her a fancy hat to wear and we shared a meal and some good desert. We laughed a lot even though our hearts were breaking because she was to go through more Chemo. She taught me so much about how to appreciate life. Rest In Peace my friend. Keep up the laughter

There are many many memories of Liz that I will cherish, but the thing I loved most was her love of fun and that glorious, infectious laugh. I would defy anyone to keep a straight face when Liz was laughing, which she did often.
Here’s a photo taken when we were out on a ramble - Bracebridge to Gravenhurst to Bala to Port Carling and back to Bracebridge and many places in between. To our delight, we came across a beautiful team of horses, hitched to a festively decorated carriage and waiting for a bride to arrive to be transported to her wedding.
Liz yelled, “Stop!” She was fascinated so we parked and chatted with the groomsmen until the bride, her father and bridesmaids arrived. Still curious, we walked along behind the procession until they were finally inside The Key, where the wedding was being held. Only then did we move on to look for other adventures.
She was a good friend ❣️

My heartfelt condolences to Liz’s family. Liz will be remembered for her infectious laugh, boisterous personality, her strength , tenacity, and warmth! She always brightened a room with her smile. She can Rest In Peace. She will be with those that have gone before her playing sequins, cribbage and chatting up a storm lol.

Marlene, or as we knew her, Liz was a special friend to me. She volunteered to be an assistant for me in my classroom years ago and was a tremendous support for me. She made me laugh and helped me at the beginning of my teaching career. She reminded me that I needed to give myself a break and let things go because I couldn’t do it all, especially by myself. She couldn’t continue to assist me due to her immune issues but we continued to visit and chat often. We spoke only a week before her birthday. She was a precious friend and will be tremendously missed. Her strength has gotten me through many rough moments and she will always be that rock for me. Rest In Peace my friend. This photo was last summer when she was going through her cancer treatments. We had a birthday lunch with her and gave her everything she wanted. She said she had to eat as much as she could because the treatments would prevent her from enjoying food for a while. So glad to have had that moment with her.
