Obituary of Oswald Ernest Rose
At the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Thursday November 14, 2019 at 94 years of age. Ozzy was born in Rutherglen June 23, 1925 and was the third of nine children to his parents, the late Joseph and Alice Rose. He grew up in Rutherglen where he worked and lived on his parent’s farm. In 1952 Ozzy purchased and built his own farm and fish ponds just across the road from his homestead. Babe was a third-generation worker with the Canadian Pacific Railway where he worked for over 37 years. In addition, Ozzy and his family owned and operated Rose’s Trout Ponds for over 22 years. Babe’s volunteering was extensive and included community projects and lifetime membership with the Bonfield Agricultural Society and the North Bay Jail. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanora Sperberg (McLaren). Loving father of Elmer (Christine) of Bonfield and Laura-Lee Boissonneault (Luc) of North Bay. Sadly missed by grandchildren Krista Rose Carmichael and Sheldon and Trevor Boissonneault and great grandchildren Cam and Ali Carmichael. Survived by his sisters Delta Hallman of Cambridge, Clela McLaren of North Bay and Iona Edmunds also of North Bay and by his brother Joseph Rose Jr. of Rutherglen. Predeceased by sisters Ella Rose, Keitha Armstrong and Mabel Prong and by his brother Bill Rose. Ossie will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, family and friends. Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, family and friends for your support. Friends may call at the Martyn Funeral Home in North Bay on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and on Tuesday from 11am – 1pm. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1pm. The interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Rutherglen in the spring. Donations to the Township of Bonfield (to purchase a bench at the cemetery in memory of Ozzy) would be appreciated by the family. “Thinking about death produces love for life.
