Obituary of Bernice Ada Evelyn Fawcett

Please share a memory of Bernice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Bernice passed away suddenly, but peacefully at home October 16, 2019 a day after her birthday. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Brian. Dear mother of Pamela (Fern Bossé) of Orleans, ON, Brendon (Jewel Hummel) of Powassan, and Elizabeth (Mike Winters) of Delta, BC. Loving grandmother to Mathieu, Olivia, Rachel, Erin and Owen. Bernice was predeceased by her eldest son Thomas in 1990, and by her four sisters: Eliza, Gwen, Anne and Heather. Bernice was born in Porquis Junction, ON, spent her elementary schooling in Englehart, and high school at NBCVI in North Bay. In the 1970’s she earned a BA in education at Concordia University in Montreal. She spent most of her teaching career as a supply teacher in parts of Ontario and BC, and in teaching English as a second language in Burlington, Orillia and North Bay. Bernice was a long-time sorority sister in Beta Sigma Phi and belonged to the Torchbearer Nu Chapter in North Bay. She was also a keen member of the North Bay Golden Angels Knitting group, following her favourite pastime. Bernice will be cremated and buried with Thomas in Terrace Lawn Cemetery. Because of family travel considerations, a celebration of her life will be Sunday, November 10, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME, 464 Wyld St. North Bay. The family wishes to thank the responding services, Ambulance, Fire, police and Funeral Home for their thoughtful and caring assistance.
