Obituary of Joan Monica McCauley
McCauley, Joan Monica (nee Corbeil)
November 17, 1932 – October 15, 2019
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our beloved Aunt Joan, tenderly embraced by family at her side on October 15, 2019 at the North Bay Reginal Health Centre at the age of 86 years. Predeceased by her husband Edward, her parents Emile and Wilhelmina Corbeil, sisters; Bernice (Alfred Legris), Anita (Eric Campion), Corrine (Gerald Keech), Adele (John Palangio), sister & brother in-laws Geraldine, Walter, & Wilfred McCauley, nephew John Christopher Palangio and grandniece Meagan Ryan. Survived by her sister Gloria (Bob Fenlon) of Chatham and sister in-law Wilma McCauley (Wilfred) of North Bay. She will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grandnephews, great-grand nieces, and great-grandnephews. Joan grew up in a small house on John St. in North Bay, the 2nd youngest of six girls. Joan worked for Deluxe Transportation then at the ONR Medical Centre as a secretary. Joan and her husband Eddie loved to entertain family and friends at their house on Metcalf St. then on Reginald Rd. and at their cottage on Trout Lake. Joan was an active member of Laurier Avenue United Church and then Trinity United Church. Joan assisted with the churches’ fundraising by baking and making crafts for their annual craft & bake sales and teas. Joan loved to bake for her family, friends, and neighbours. She was famous for her pecan pie, icebox cookies, and her “Money” cakes. Joan had a special soft spot for animals. She feed the wild birds and the deer during our long winters. She loved her feline family Patcho, Sammie I, Sammie II, and especially Patches. The family would like to thank the staff at Barclay House for their support and care this past year and the doctors and nurses on the CCU and on the D3 unit of the North Bay Reginal Health Centre. Family will receive friends at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME 464 Wyld St. North Bay on Friday October 25th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26 in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 600 Tower Drive, North Bay .
