Obituary of William David Snell
William "Bill" David Snell was a dedicated husband and father, a lifetime learner, a lover of nature, a sports fan, a problem-solver, and a true gentleman. Bill was born and raised in Toronto, surrounded by a loving family and where he eventually pursued his Bachelor of Science in Forestry from the University of Toronto and his Master of Business Administration from York University. Following his passion for the outdoors, he and his wife Ria moved to Pine Falls, Manitoba where Bill built a career fueled by his dedication and intelligence. Bill and Ria proudly raised their family in Pine Falls. As a father, Bill passed on his love of sport, value for education and was an example of pursuing one’s path with grace, determination and heart. Bill and Ria thereafter settled in North Bay, where they found another welcoming community. In his retirement, Bill enjoyed having more time to work on his golf game, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren. Bill was respected as a kind, gentle, gracious and intelligent soul who knew how to tell a good joke. He was an idea man and could find solutions to any problem. He was dedicated to his work in support of the family he put above all else.
Bill passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Thursday, August 8, 2019. He was in his 70th year. Beloved husband of Ria Poulin-Snell of North Bay. Cherished father of Paul Snell (Amanda), Laura Klemmer (Craig) and Carly Byers (Dave). Proud grandfather of Eva, Leo, Anna, Kate and Leif.
