Since meeting Jim at teachers' college 33 years ago, he has never failed to make me laugh. His commitment to family and his sons, together with his dedication to the art of teaching, serves as a beacon for a life well lived. I will miss the phone calls, the visits, the dinners, the dancing...but most of all I will miss Jim.

As previously mentioned Jim "Mr. B" was a fabulous story teller and was very funny. He could always crack a good joke and make everyone laugh. Jim had a very kind heart and a love of the arts. He had a special friendship with Ryan my son and they talked a lot. I appreciated all of his efforts. His smiling face will surely be missed.
Each morning the Kindergarten friends I worked with would greet him with a rowdy chime in ...altogether of "Good Morning Mr. Burrows!!!" He would just smile and come and speak to them. He always left with a giggle. He took time out of his busy day to read with one child from this class each visit out to Argyle.

My mom called to let me know the sad news about my high school friend Jim. He was a wonderful storyteller who could turn a mundane happening into a side splitting story leaving all within earshot totally wanting more. It puts a smile on my face to read that he never stopped doing that. My deepest condolesnces to his family.

I haven’t seen Jim since shortly after high school, but my memory of him and his bitingly sharp wit is still strong. He made me laugh like few others, and I was very grateful for his friendship throughout my time at CSS.
I can remember some of his one liners even now, and I smile. Rest In Peace, Jim.

To the Burrows Family.
I was very saddened to hear of Jim's passing, to lose someone one at such a young age is so unfair.
Jim was the one who taught me how to curl at the age of 14 and I remember his sense of humour and joy. It is through him and the curling club that I came to know the rest of the family.
May time heal and may your memories comfort you at this difficult time.

As my 5th grade teacher "Mr. B" played an important role in my life. He had a hand in creating the solid base of who I am today, teaching me to take ownership, be accountable for my actions and held me to it.
He was an amazing teacher always quick with a joke or a life lesson.
I am grateful for his presence in my life and I thank him for helping me be a better human.

We will forever miss Mr. Burrows! What an amazing principal we were so fortunate to have at SouthShore. The lives he touched in such a special way will never be forgotten. How he always knew all the parents first names and made it a priority to get to know each child and family. The music lessons and Christmas concert that he brought to our school and our crazy conversations and laughs at parents council. Thank you Jim for being apart of my children’s lives and for showing them that a principal can be someone who leads, teaches and can be cool! We will miss you !

Jim,
Your kindness, humour, and determination to nurture your students and staff have touched my soul deeply.
You are a shining and exemplary role model of how the seemingly impossible obstacles can become possible with compassion and truly caring about the well-being and success of students and staff ... despite the roadblocks often placed before us.
Just as a teacher is not always aware, or doesn’t find out until years later, you had a profound impact on so many of us that had the privilege of “working with you” (as you insisted) and not for you.
Jim, it didn’t matter how busy you were, you found moments in the day to speak with me and the ESL students every day when we worked together at Chippewa.
On behalf of the students of the ESL Program, and its teacher so truly grateful you were there when we were all alone, know that you will never be alone, as a part of you lives within so many you touched forever.

I was fortunate enough to know Mr. Burrows when I was a student in his fifth grade class way back when at J.W. Trusler. I was also lucky enough to reunite with him as a colleague when his office was at Chippewa when I first began my own teaching career there. He was always kind, witty, hard working and just an all around bright light. May he rest peacefully and may the family find strength and comfort in the memories made together throughout his life.
