Obituary of Wannie Jemmett
JEMMETT - Lowana Irene “Wannie” nee Moore
The Jemmett family sadly announces Wannie’s passing on Friday July 5, 2019 at the age of 88. A life long resident of Temiskaming Shores Wannie, the daughter of Arthur and Lucille Moore, was born on September 19, 1930 in a small house that is still standing today on Melville Street in New Liskeard. She was predeceased in 2013 by her loving and devoted husband Chuck Jemmett. The proud and loving mother of Doug (Tina Prietz) of Huntsville, Sue Elliott (Kirk) of North Bay, Shelley Jackson (Mike) of New Liskeard and Shawn (Mary) of North Bay. Gramma will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Charlie & Peter Jemmett, Shauna Ball (Nathan), Ashley Elliott, Tyler (Stephanie), Shayne & Amye Jackson and Chelsea & Matthew Jemmett, and her great-grandchildren Connor & Ethan Ball and Hannah Jackson.
As well as her parents she was also predeceased by her sisters Alida and Aileen and her brother Robbie Moore.
Chuck and Wannie will be remembered by many as the owners of Jemmett's Confectionary located on Whitewood Avenue. She worked in a law office for a time and for many years was a successful real estate broker in the Tri Towns. Wannie was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Church and she also volunteered for Community Living. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour. Some of her favourite things in life were cats, dogs, and jujubes. She was a talented knitter and sewer, and enjoyed playing Ouija Board with her grandchildren and Scrabble with her nieces. In 1948 she won the Miss Northern Ontario Beauty Pageant.
The family would like to thank Dr. Don Davies and the wonderful staff at Tri-Town Extendicare for their care, and compassion.
A celebration of Wannie’s life will be held at Perrin’s Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 9th 2019 at 2:00 PM with visitation beginning at 1:00pm.
