Even though I had never lived there, visiting North Bay as a kid always felt like coming home because of Elly's kindness and warm hospitality. My earliest childhood memories are of laughter at the Berry home. The friendship that my mother and father, Val and Don, had with "Uncle" Bud and "Aunt" Elly was genuine and would last a lifetime. "Aunt" was not such a big stretch. Elly made everyone feel like family.
She will be deeply missed by the Hannant family... but my father's little corner of heaven will be a little warmer tonight with Elly there to roll her eyes at the old jokes he will delight in telling her... again.
