Obituary of Diane Louise Hunter
Hunter: Diane Louise
Diane Louise Hunter nee Whitside of North Bay passed away peacefully after a short illness on Monday, August 20th. Diane was born in Simcoe, Ontario and nursed at Toronto Sick Kids for a short time before moving with her husband Dr. Rab Hunter (deceased) to North Bay in 1955 to start a family. Diane was very engaged in life – with her family, friends and clubs. She was an avid bridge player and member of the North Bay Duplicate Bridge Club. She belonged to Probus, Living Fit and numerous book clubs. For many years travelling was her passion.
She will be very missed by her children, Dr Cameron Hunter (Florence), Mary Blachut (Piotr), Catharine “Katy” Hunter (Gary Gardiner), Robert Hunter (Jennifer) and 11 grandchildren: Blair, Gordon and Valerie Hunter; Chris, Adrian, and Rebecca Blachut; Keira and Kelsey Brown; Rab, Alex and Cam Hunter, 5 great grandchildren and her precious cat, Lucky.
Special thanks to Dr Brian Shaw who oversaw her care and the wonderful nurses of ward 3-D.
Donations to the North Bay Serenity Hospice are welcome. Visitation at Martyn’s Funeral Home will take place from 12:00 – 2:45 on Thursday, August 23rd followed by the funeral service at 3:00.
