Obituary of Orville Gordon Brown

Please share a memory of Orville to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

BROWN, Orville Gordon   May 23, 1930 - June 15, 2018

Orville died peacefully at home, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family on the day of his 67th wedding anniversary to the love of his life Cecile (Gosselin) who was always at his side.  He is survived by his four sons:  Alvin (Kay), Eric (Anne), Glen and Jonathan (Kiera, fiancee); four grand-children: Tristan, Andrea, Laura and Seth; and one great-grandchild:  Donovan.

Brother of Doris Daye (deceased), Alice Tremblay (deceased), Jean Cote (Henry), Joyce Marks (Don) and Isabelle Mathieu. He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately referred to him as 'Uncle Orv'.

Orville worked for the ONR for 40 years as a machinist and stationary engineer until his retirement in 1988. His life was centered around his love for Jehovah God and he was very active in the Lakeview Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses to the end.

Orville was well-known in the community for his kindness, patience, generosity and never-ending repertoire of jokes and truisms. "You can't tell the depth of a well by the length of the handle on the pump."  Think about it!  He had a wealth of knowledge of most trades, loved to tinker and figure out how things worked. Many people commented: "If Orville can't fix it, no one can!"

There will be a memorial service on July 1, 2018 at 1:30 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1120 Premier Road, North Bay, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Canada, the Cancer Society, or your preferred charity.
