PURDY - Margaret Ethel "Meg" Margaret Ethel Broadley Purdy, died Tuesday, December 16 at North Bay Regional Health Centre, surrounded by family and friends and with her beloved husband of 44 years, Ronald Purdy, by her side. Margaret was born in Toronto on July 1, 1936, to Agnes (Nancy) Haxby and Harry Haxby. She pursued a professional career, first as a nurse and then as an ordained minister, while raising three children. She is remembered for her dedication to her faith, her efforts to advance the cause of feminism, her willingness to help others, and for her efforts to protect the environment. Margaret is survived by her husband Ron, daughters Heather (Paul), Dawn (David), and Erin (Mike), and six grandchildren, Cameron, Dawson, Eden, Liam, Calum and Quinn. Meg's family will receive friends at Martyn Funeral Home today, Thursday December 18 from 3:00 - 6:00pm. Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held in Emanuel United Church, 395 Lakeshore Drive, at 2:00 pm on Friday December 19. Interment in the Shiloh Cemetery. If desired donations in Meg's memory to SHARE Agricultural Foundation , Knox Nipissing United Church , the Green Party of Canada or the charity of your choice will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
