Forsyth, Eva Beryl

We mourn the passing of Eva Beryl Forsyth (Huckins) at Lakeview Manor Long Term Care on August 24th, 2026, in her 90th year.

Eva, a loving wife of David Maxwell Forsyth and a cherished partner to Bill Mafturak, was surrounded by her family in her final days. She is now at peace.

Beloved mother to Jill Ann Forsyth (Brian Avison) and Stephen David Forsyth (Michelle Martin). She will be remembered by her grandchildren Taylor Avison, Colin Avison, Ian Forsyth, and great-grandchildren Hailey and Hunter Herrington. She is predeceased by her siblings Dawn Bennett, Lindsay Huckins, Rupert Huckins, Barb Lyon and Bud Huckins, but will be missed by their children who knew her as Aunt Eva.

Eva was born in Fitch Bay, Quebec, on July 14, 1937. She worked at the North Bay Air Force Base and later worked as a Purolator delivery driver.

A social person, Eva loved having family and friends around for meals, card games and sharing stories. She enjoyed boating, canoeing and taking dips at the lake (only if really hot). In our youth, we remember her making the most of our cold winters by snowmobiling and skiing with friends. 

After 10+ years of “The Long Goodbye” with Alzheimer’s, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the many healthcare providers who cared for her.  A special shout out to the incredible team at Lakeview Manor who ensured laughter, peace and comfort throughout her final months! 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Martyn Funeral Home, 464 Wyld Street, in North Bay on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 12 to 3 p.m.  She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Dave, at North Bay Union Cemetery.  Online condolences may be left at www.martynfh.com.
