BARBARA JOAN (FRASER) KITZUL

August 12 1942 – September 19 2026

Barbara passed away peacefully of pneumonia and heart failure at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.  Devoted wife of 59 years of Stephen Kitzul. Dearly loved mother of Scott Kitzul (Ronnie), and Angela Neault (Darwin); nana of Brandon, Matthew, and Aleasha Neault.  Dear sister of Brenda (Peter Kellett), Brian Fraser (Marti) and Linda (Roy Banister). Special thanks to Florence Kirkham and Germaine Blahey for their ongoing care and love. Predeceased by parents James Stuart Rees Fraser and Olive Mae Collins.

Barbara was born and raised in North Bay, Ontario, taught elementary school in Creighton Mines, Sudbury, and North Bay. Changing careers later in life, she trained to become a Personal Support Worker, organizing her fellow workers into a Union (SEIU), and volunteering her time in the choir, the Parish Advisory Committee and the Cemetery Board at St John’s.

A life-long member of St John’s Anglican Church, along with her mom, she became involved in Girl Scouts, later in life joining the Girl Guides Trefoil Guild, and along with Steve, active in Boy Scouts Canada. As well, she relished her time volunteering with the Hillbilly Unit of the Rorab Shrine Club.

She cherished her involvement in the Cursillo Movement, as well as in the Catholic Ministries Program with her husband, and later was involved in Ministry to Youth by immersing herself in the Church Nursery Program at St John’s Anglican Church. 

Friends may call at St. John's Anglican Church (301 Main St. E. North Bay) on Thursday, October 1, 2026, from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. with a Reception to follow.

Barbara is missed, yes, but the memories are warm and happy.
