MESSENGER, Barbara Ann Louise

With great sorrow, the family announces the passing of Barbara Messenger, September 8th, 2026 at the age of 83. Predeceased by her mother, Doris Descheno (2013) and her father Wilfred Descheno (1991), Barbara is fondly remembered by her daughter Lorelee, her son Michael and his wife Krista, and her grandchildren Teggan, Justine, Audrey, Henry, and Evelyn.  Barbara will be missed dearly by her sister Dolores and her brother Barry, as well as their respective spouses Gerry and Connie, and their children and grandchildren. Feeling the loss as well will be Barb’s cousin Shirley, and Barb’s fellow grandma to Justine, Murielle.

Barbara was born in North Bay and spent most of her life here.  She will be missed by the entire population who greeted her fondly everywhere she went.  As a teacher, she touched the lives of countless students in North Bay, as well as their parents, and the teachers and staff who were lucky enough to work with her.   

Barb’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, and she will be remembered as the centre of the happiest occasions in her family’s lives.   Barb also loved her friends, who span childhood school friends, to the teachers she worked with, to the wonderful women who were her friend group in her building.   Barb never missed a chance to send a message, a gift, or a card for every birthday of the people she loved - and they were many.

Family will receive friends at Martyn Funeral Home on Friday, September 18th from 12 – 2 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow in the Chapel at 2 p.m.
