Sandra passed into the arms of her Saviour on Monday August 17, 2026. Her beloved son, Mark Jeffery Shier announces her passing. Sandra was the loving daughter of Walter George Shier (1911-1974) and Thelma Barbara Shier (née Palmer) (1922-1987).

As a Christian, Sandra found strength and guidance from her daily walk with her Lord. She was a daughter, wife, co-worker, business owner, teacher, caregiver, friend, pretend sister, but felt her most important job was that of Mother and was very proud of her relationship with her son.

Sandra was born in Toronto and lived in New Liskeard, Blind River, North Bay, Bracebridge and Milton, always returning to North Bay. Although her heart was in social work, she finished her career as a Director at Milton District Hospital followed as a Director at St. Joseph's Hospital in North Bay. She fulfilled a lifetime dream when she attended the University of Toronto in her 40th year, graduating with a degree in Psychology. She later wrote a book for Caregiving which was published by the government and used in the training of future Caregivers. Her spare time was spent giving of herself to being the first President of the North Bay Regional Hospital Volunteers Association and sitting on the Board of the Hospital, plus the Board of the V.O.N., and Alzheimer's Society. Sandra will be remembered for her baking, cooking and entertaining. She enjoyed a full and rewarding life and passed in a state of grace, so grateful for her family, son and exceptional friends.

and say, "She was my friend".

At Sandra’s request, there will be no visitation nor service. Her ashes will be laid to rest in the family plot in Sutherland, Ontario.
