VanWart, Iris Mary

Passed peacefully in her 100th year at Nipissing Manor  in Corbeil, Ontario on Monday, July 27, 2026.

Mother of Doug (1951-2000), Gail (Ed), Peter (Sharon), Kym (Jim), Barry (Cindy) and Rick (Dianne).  Iris will be dearly missed by her children, grandkids, great grandkids and all the New Brunswick clan.  With her amazing handwriting skills, mom was a great letter writer, maintaining special relationships over the years with her sisters and their children.

Born in Doncaster England on September 15, 1926, Iris arrived in Canada on May 6, 1928 aboard the S.S. Laurentic. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Margaret Moody (Cairns) and her sisters Winnie, Joan, Olive, Margaret, and Cynthia.

New Brunswick held a special place in her heart where she grew up with her five sisters, often speaking of her time on the farm or working for Irving Oil and Ganong Chocolate Company.

In addition to travel, Iris loved gatherings and enjoyed witnessing family and friends having a good time.  Her love of animals both domestic and wild would be her greatest attribute.  A legacy shared with her entire family.

A big thank you to all the staff of Nipissing Manor for their kindness and respect given to our mother.  She spoke very highly of everyone at the home.  At mom’s request, there will be no service. 

As a remembrance to Iris please consider rescuing a pet, advocate for animal welfare, donate to a wildlife foundation or pet rescue, install a bird feeder or just set out a bowl of water for the squirrels during a hot spell.  Iris would be smiling ear to ear at any gesture benefitting the animals we share our planet with.
