Pierre Vital Cyr

Surrounded by the love of his family, Pierre was brought home to Mattawa for his final day, where he passed away in the place he loved most, on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2026.

Pierre was the beloved husband of Theresa Cyr (née Gauthier). He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Melanie Meecha, and was a loving father to Micheal Bastien and Sarah Bastien (Kevin).

His greatest joy in life was spending time with his cherished grandchildren, Ayden, Avery, and Sully, Sarah, Elijah, and Rebecca. Pierre will also be deeply missed by his best friend, Jacques Guay; his sisters, Paulette Trahan (Marcel) and Jeannette Bellaire (Reginald), and his sister-in-law Julie Cyr. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Jacqueline Cyr, and by his brother, Oscar Jr.

Pierre was truly a cornerstone of Wilson's Builders Supplies, where he dedicated many years serving both his customers and the Mattawa community. Known for his generosity, resourcefulness, and unwavering willingness to help others, Pierre would always go above and beyond for anyone in need. It was often said that if the store didn't have what you were looking for, you could probably find it tucked away in the back corner of Pierre's shed. He never hesitated to hand over the keys - even to a stranger if it meant helping someone complete a project or get through a difficult time. His kindness, trust, and commitment to others left a lasting impression on countless people throughout the community and beyond.

In keeping with Pierre's wishes, cremation has taken place at Forest Lawn Crematorium. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Mattawa Legion on Saturday, October 10th from 1-4 p.m.
