Deborah Irene Glenn Obituary

Glenn, Deborah Irene (nee Laplante)

Aug. 21, 1954 - June 3, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Deborah Irene Glenn of St. Catharine’s, Ontario on Wednesday June 3, 2026, at the age of 71, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Rutherglen, Ontario

to Ruth and Hector Laplante. Although Debbie spent most of her adult life in Northern and Southern Ontario, she never forgot her roots and wished to be returned to rest in peace with her late parents and siblings.

The way Debbie fought this battle with strength was a testament to her fighting spirit and fierce devotion to have more time with her family.

Everyone who knew Debbie knew she had the gift to “chat” hence why she thrived in the public eye during her working years. After a lot of thought, Debbie retired due to deteriorating health, but with that said she was determined to get some travel in while she was still able and she did!

Debbie joined the Merritton Lions Club taking on the President position of this branch before switching to the Thorold Lions Club. She loved being a part of the Lions family; the friends she made along the way and her dedication was evident before illness took over.

Debbie is survived by her children Sherry (Idris), Ryan (Ashley) & Alicia (late Mike). Cherished grandmother of Kristopher, Idris Jr., A.J., Ryder, Ember; Nevaeh, Casey, Alex. She will be deeply missed by her sister Claire Mijatovic (Joe), and numerous nieces, nephews, and her life long friend Jan Derkatch.

Predeceased by her parents Ruth and Hector Laplante; brothers Clarence and Douglas; sister Holley; nieces Melinda and Melissa; nephews Chris and Matthew; and most recently her son-in-law, Mike.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place at the Golden Age Hall in Bonfield, Ontario with Mr. Albert Benoit officiating on Saturday, June 13th, 2026 from 12 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. A private interment will take place at Ste. Bernadette Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke foundation would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.martynfh.com
