Valerie Edith James Obituary

James, Valerie Edith

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful but sudden passing of our mother, Valerie Edith James (nee Prescott) at North Bay Regional Health Centre on Sunday, May 17th in her 85th year.

Valerie is predeceased by her husband Warren A. James (2013) and is survived by her son Clinton James, her daughter Mandy Hampel, son-in-law Ken Hampel and her most treasured and loved grandson, Turner Hampel (Marina). Valerie will be deeply missed by her brother Ken Prescott, his wife Madeleine, sister-in-law, Anna Prescott, sister Lois Graham and her husband Wayne, her sister Dawn Scott, and her brother John Dawson.  She was predeceased by her brothers Richard (Dick) Prescott and Stan Scott, and sister-in-law Sharon Scott. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she had always held dear to her heart.

Valerie was an active member of the Bonfield Golden Age Club where she assisted with their fundraising dinners and loved helping to put on their annual Christmas Bazaar. She was a very talented knitter, crocheter and sewer. She always had a dozen projects on the go. If you were fortunate enough to receive one of her cross-stitched Christmas stockings, you will have a lovely remembrance from her to display at her favourite time of year.

A celebration of life will take place Saturday, June 27th from 1-3 p.m. at the Bonfield Parish Hall. We invite you to bring any handmade items you received from Val so that we may display them for everyone to enjoy during the celebration.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Margaret’s Anglican Church's (Rutherglen) building repair fund will be humbly appreciated by Val’s family. Donations can be made at the Caisse Populaire in Bonfield or by mailing a cheque payable to the Caisse Populaire at 230 Yonge Street, Bonfield, ON, P0H 1E0 with a notation referencing “St. Margaret’s Building Repairs” tax receipts will be issued. Online condolences may be left at www.martynfh.com.
