Andrew "Andy" Blyth Obituary
Blyth, Andrew (Andy)
June 20, 1935 – May 10, 2026
Andrew (Andy) Blyth, a man of remarkable character, dedication, and a charming Scottish wit, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he spent his youth on the move, whether on a soccer pitch, a cricket field, or sailing the local waters. After completing an apprenticeship as a shipwright, he brought his adventurous spirit and a lifelong membership to the Masonic Lodge of Scotland to Canada in 1954.
Andy’s life in his adopted home was defined by service. He proudly served fifteen years in the Royal Canadian Air Force as an AD Tech, earning an Honourable Discharge, a Green Uniform, and the Canadian Decoration with the rank of Master Corporal. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to North Bay, where he established and operated a thriving business serving the Canadian mining industry for over four decades.
A devoted member of the community, Andy was a pillar of the Air Force Association of Canada and the 406 North Bay Wing, where he served in every executive capacity, including President. However, there is no question that his proudest accomplishments and memories were of the time he spent with Air Cadet League of Canada. Over 35 years of mentorship, he served as a Regional Director and on the Board of Directors, receiving the National Award of Honour for his transformative leadership and dedication to the next generation.
To those who knew him, Andy was more than his accolades. He was a proud, determined man with a rhythmic Scottish lilt and a permanent twinkle in his eye. He was happiest watching the sunsets over Lake Nipissing from the deck of a boat, sharing a laugh that could light up a room.
Predeceased by his wife, Barbara Blyth, he is survived by his devoted daughter, Belynda Blyth, and his cherished grandson, Jackson Furrow. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Pauline Paquette, whose exceptional care provided Andy with comfort, dignity, and kindness in his final days.
His work is done, his legacy remains, and the sunset is finally his to keep.
A donation to Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Online condolences may be left at www.martynfh.com.
