Raymond Lawrance Sohm Obituary

Sohm, Raymond Lawrence

Raymond Lawrence Sohm passed away on April 1, 2026, at the age of 80. Proud and dear father of Ryan (Julie) and loved Grampa to Éva and Noah, a role that brought him immense joy.

Ray was predeceased by his parents Bill and Amy Sohm and his siblings Ernie Sohm, Gloria Casselman, Ilene Aikens, and Betty Bigelow. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters June Mannella and Lillian McKee, and many nieces and nephews.

Ray grew up in South River and spent most of his life in North Bay, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had fond memories of his time spent at the hunting camp and Camp Conewango. He was known for being a jokester and loved having a great time. After retiring from DuPont/ETI, he never stopped tinkering and fixing things. Ray took great pride in sharing his knowledge with Ryan through countless building and renovation projects. Working side by side with his son was one of his greatest pleasures.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dave Birch for his thoughtful care and friendship and to Jim Mannella for his many visits over the years to which Ray always looked forward to.

As per Ray’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment will take place at North Bay Union Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.  Funeral arrangements entrusted to Martyn Funeral Home.  Online condolences may be left at www.martynfh.com.
