John MacIntosh Munro Obituary

Munro, John MacIntosh

It is with great sadness that the family share John’s passing at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Thursday, March 19th, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Norma Irene (nee Beamish), at the age of 86.  Loving father of David (Judy), Elizabeth (David), Catherine, Phyllis, Andrew (Terri Lynn), and James, and loving grandpa to Kaitlyn.

Mr. Munro was a Latin teacher at Chippawa for 32 years, then at Nipissing University for 12 more.

His loving family were always included in the diverse hobbies he enjoyed. Of mention, classic cars, world travel, pipe organ building, woodworking and farm life too. John was a true lifelong learner with a thirst for knowledge. He was a voracious reader and spent many enjoyable hours listening to classical music. Special thanks are extended to Dr. O’Grady, the nurses and staff of the Willow at North Bay Regional Hospital for their compassionate approach to the family and most of all for the dignity and kindness shown to John. Respecting John’s wishes, cremation has occurred, and his ashes will be interred in the family plot in the North Branch Cemetery, Martintown.

If desired, donations to the NBRHC would be appreciated by his family.  Arrangements entrusted to the Martyn Funeral Home. Online condolences can be offered at www.martynfh.com.
