Toffoli, Thomas Lawrence

October 16, 1938 – December 24, 2025

It is with profound sadness that the family of Thomas Lawrence Toffoli announce his passing on December 24, 2025, in North Bay, Ontario, at the age of 87, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Copper Cliff, Ontario, on October 16, 1938, Tom was one of three children of the late Leo and Anna Toffoli.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Yvonne, and treasured by his children: Carolyn Lecappelain (Bruce) of North Bay; Thomas Toffoli Jr. of Ottawa; Terry Toffoli of Halifax; and Holly MacDonald (Jeff) of Russell. Tom was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren—Evan (Sara), Kelsey (Leshya), Gregory, Ryan, Alison (Justin), Jacob (Abby), and Benjamin—and a cherished great-grandfather to five great grandchildren: Cullen, Raegan, Aida, Margot, and Lewis. He will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.

Tom was predeceased by his parents and his brother Rudy (Jane, deceased). He is survived by his sister Evelyn (Steve, deceased).

A man of service and integrity, Tom enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1955, where he served with distinction for 27 years. Following his military career, he continued his commitment to public service with 14 years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Tom will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family and friends, always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need, whether family, neighbors, colleagues, or friends. In his retirement, he and Yvonne cherished spending the winter months traveling with friends and loved ones, creating treasured memories in Florida, Texas, Portugal, and on many unforgettable trips to the Caribbean. Tom was a wonderful storyteller and a playful prankster, bringing laughter and joy wherever he went. His children fondly recall summer camping adventures and countless family moments filled with humor, warmth, and togetherness—memories that will live on in their hearts forever.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Stacey, Dr. Jinnah, and the exceptional nursing staff at North Bay Regional Health Centre for their compassionate care; with a special mention to the social visits from Dr. Leckie.

Celebration of Life will take place on 11th January, 2026, 1pm to 4pm at The North Bay Shriners Club, 1260 Brookes St, North Bay, ON.   Private family service to follow.
