Passed away peacefully at the age of 84 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on October 24th, 2025. 


Doug was the beloved son of the late George and Dorothy Dawber and predeceased by his siblings Allan (Helen-living), Shirley McIntyre, and Janet. Doug is lovingly remembered by his nieces Linda Neault (Bob), Terry Dawber, and Janet Finley (Mark), and his great nieces and nephews.


Doug spent his working life in Sudbury with Falconbridge Mines.  He obtained a degree in economics from Laurentian University. Doug also volunteered with the Cancer Society and Meals on Wheels.


The last several years of his life were spent at Water’s Edge/Northern Heights Care Community, where he received the utmost care, compassion and sense of belonging.  His family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff who made Doug feel safe, secure and loved.  Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at A3 NBRHC for their care and compassion in Doug’s final days.


As per Doug’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and interment will take place at Terrace Lawn Cemetery in North Bay.


If desired, donations to the Salvation Army or the OSPCA would be appreciated.
