Eunice McTiernan Obituary

McTiernan, Eunice Lesley (nee Smith)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eunice, peacefully at Cassellholme with family by her side.  Eunice was in her 86th year and was the beloved wife of the late Harold McTiernan.  She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Brian (Donna), Kevin, and her granddaughters Julia and Lauren.

Eunice was born in Coventry England in 1939.  She came to Canada to finish her nursing studies, and upon meeting her future husband, made Canada her new home.  She adored the home that she and Harold had built on Trout Lake.  She loved to cook for her family, especially at holidays where she shared her English traditions.  She also loved the outdoors, that included many family camping trips, cross country skiing in the winter, and berry picking in the summer.

She was a caring and compassionate nurse during her many years at St. Joseph’s hospital.  Upon retirement, she continued her nursing career in Dr. Fazzari’s office.  She will be truly missed by her good friend and nursing partner for many years, Ruby.

A special thank you to the staff at Cassellholme who were very compassionate to her in her final days.

Visitation to be held Thursday October 9th at Martyn Funeral Home, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and from 5:30pm-7:00pm with a service to follow in the Martyn Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00pm.

As per her wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the North Bay and District Humane Society, or the Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada.
