Baranowski, Roman

It is with deep sorrow and loving memories that the family of Roman Baranowski announce his peaceful passing on September 30th, 2025 at the Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay, after a long battle with cancer.

Roman was born on February 28th, 1953 in North Bay, Ontario.  He was predeceased by his parents Konrad and Elfriede, his sister Heidi and his wife Debbie (Haglund). Roman leaves behind his sisters, Barbara Bannerman and Sabina Kerr (Grant), as well as his nephew Wayne Thomas.

Known for his quick wit, practical jokes and his ever-gentle demeanour, Roman faced life with a come what may attitude. He treasured his time with his lifelong friend of 50+ years- Danny Rothwell. We are incredibly grateful to Danny for the gift of time that he gave to Roman during all the time spent in hospitals and finally at the hospice. Those visits brought Roman comfort and time to reminisce the mischief and laughter they shared as best friends.

Roman’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the many friends who visited him during his long hospital stays- your presence brought him comfort.

Thank you to all the nurses at North Bay Regional Hospital and Health Sciences North for the care that they provided. Thank you to our family doctor – Dr. Terry Rotondo, for looking after Roman so well over the years. And a very special thank you to the nurses and PSW’s at Nipissing Serenity Hospice for the love, care, compassion and patience they showed Roman during his final days. The work you do is immeasurable and we are so grateful to you all.

As per Roman’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.
