Barbara Gertrude Johnson (nee Mooney)

Barbara went home to the Lord on Monday September 22, 2025, in her 95th year. She passed peacefully at Casselholme, North Bay, surrounded by her family.

Barb was born on October 3, 1930 to William (Bill) and Dora Mooney in North Bay, Ontario. She went to school at North Bay Collegiate and enjoyed many years on their poultry farm in North Bay.  She later married her husband Lloyd Johnson and then moved to their farm on Lake Nipissing in Callander, where they raised their four children. She lived out the rest of her life there, as was her wish, until November 2024, thanks to her son, Grant.  Barb was a woman of faith who was very close to her church family, initially at Knox United, Callander, and then Emmanuel United Church in North Bay. She loved singing in the choir, going out for lunch afterwards and attending bible studies.

She will be remembered, among many other things, for her wonderful knitting which she generously gave to churches, hospitals, friends and families. Barb was passionate about feeding her “kids” in her yard. The deer, ducks, groundhogs, chipmunks, and squirrels and “Puss Puss”, her cat, will also miss her terribly. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Lloyd Arthur Johnson, brother Garland (Lila) Mooney, daughter Ellen and granddaughter Krista Johnson. Barb is survived by her children, Chris (Laurie), Lois (Kevin) Fricker and Grant, and grandchildren, Brad (Ginny) of Ottawa, Caleb (Lindsay) Sudbury, Tasha of Colorado, Eljah, Tiffany (Justin) Abigail (Cole), Emily (James) and Cole, all of North Bay, and her many great grandchildren.

Friends and Family may share stories and pay their respects to Barb at Emmanuel United Church, North Bay on Saturday Oct. 4. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 with funeral service following.
