William Raymond Fisher Obituary

Fisher, William Raymond “Bill”

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Bill's passing on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.

Born in Toronto on March 25, 1941, Bill was the son of the late Margaret and Norman Fisher. He graduated from the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Forestry in 1966, beginning a long and respected career in the hydro industry that started with a lumber company in Espanola, to Barrie Ontario Hydro, and ultimately retiring as the Transmission Line Superintendent for North Bay Hydro.

On December 23, 1967, Bill married the love of his life, Susan Thom. Together they raised three children: William Brent (predeceased in 1976), Jennifer Fisher-Bradley (Patrick Lalonde), and Kirsten Fisher (Dan Vasquez). Bill was a proud and loving grandfather to Heath, Grayson, and Raine Bradley, and a dear brother to Gail Brown.

Bill had a deep love for his family and friends. His idea of explaining things usually involved barking a few “suggestions” — delivered with equal parts authority and affection. A true “McGyver,” he was happiest puttering around the house at the lake, always tackling projects. Although every project he took on was only 80–90% done, it was always functional! He faced health challenges with remarkable grit and determination, never losing his stubborn spirit.

A lifelong sports fan, Bill cheered on the Jays, hockey, basketball, football, and golf with equal passion. He was also a voracious reader, always curious, always learning.

Bill certainly didn’t plan on leaving this soon, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him.

Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visiting at Martyn Funeral Home (across from City Hall) on Friday, July 25th, from 2–5 p.m. A private interment will follow at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Wendy Graham for her many years of care as well as Dr. Scott Shulman in the last few years.  We are very grateful for the care, kindness and support we received from the staff in the ER and CCU at North Bay regional Health Centre during this difficult time.

If desired, donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Online condolences may be left at www.martynfh.com.
