Obituary of Jacklyn Edythe Katharine Fricker

Please share a memory of Jacklyn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jacklyn Edythe Katharine Fricker (nee MacLean)

It is with deep sadness that her son, Brian, announces that Jackie passed away peacefully, surrounded by her son and daughter-in-law, at Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay on May 15, 2025.

Jackie was predeceased by her husband Fred (d 1983) and her eldest son Rory (d 1984).  She is survived by her son Brian and daughter-in-law, Linda.  Also dearly missed by cousins Maureen Richards and Carolyn Otto as well as a long-time neighbor, Dianne.

Jackie loved her son Brian with all of her heart.  He was the light of her life after losing her husband and oldest son.  She played piano on a local radio station when she was younger.  She enjoyed working with yarn in her younger years making mitts and toques for many.  Jackie and Maureen went on many trips, busses, cruises, and by car together, taking in many shows in Toronto.

In later years, she loved going for a ride with Brian in his truck.  They’d sometimes stop for a coffee or sometimes a fry and pogo.

We would like to thank Dr. Mah and his staff for their excellent support, Ontario Health and Care Partners for supporting us during the time we were caring for her at home, and to everyone at Nipissing Serenity Hospice for their amazing care and compassion.  Your support will never be forgotten.

As per Jackie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private family celebration at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Jackie’s name can be made to Nipissing Serenity Hospice.
