I'm so sorry to hear of Matt's passing. No words can fill the void you're feeling. Addiction is such a powerful illness that few understand. Sounds like he was full of life and a great kid with a bright future. Your honest obituary can hopefully help some understand who haven't been close to it. Unfortunately Matt couldn't break free despite all your love and support.
Know that he's at peace now and his suffering is over.

My friend across the road, the kid with no fear, quick with a joke and smart as a whip.
This picture of you, Zach and I speaks a million beautiful words. Those Campbell Avenue days seem so far away, like a beautiful dream just out of reach. I remember playing soccer with you, Zach, Paul, Andy, Dane and Charlie in my backyard, having dunk contests on fischer price nets in your driveway, your dad shocking us by hitting impossible 3 pointers on the real net, swims in Lake Nipissing, filming Jackass on my dads camera, trips to Mike's Mart on our bikes, running through the sprinkler, playing in the path, watching Betty chase you after you did something silly, playing N64 in your playroom or roller coaster tycoon on your computer... these memories are so precious and I will never forget them. I also remember hanging out in Ottawa, being proud of you for trying so hard to get things right. I will remember your wit, your intelligence, your kindness and your athleticism.
May Angels lead you in and help you find the promise of peace and the solace of rest.

To my oldest cousin Matt,
I wish there were another time when all of the Bloops could be together again. I’ll never forget the last times I saw you when you were back in Saint T, living with Nanny and Pops. Sitting with you and Josh, talking about rap, shoes, clothing brands, and everything else—those moments will always stay with me.
I’ll never forget driving past Wellington Street Variety when you introduced me to Chief Keef’s song Kobe—that moment sparked my love for his music since then and it will forever remind me of you. Even though we didn’t see each other much while you were up in North Bay, I’ll always miss the times at Nan and Pops’ house, seeing you on FaceTime.

Matt was definitely a live wire who I enjoyed teaching at West Ferris. Addiction is so difficult and a constant worry for all his loved ones. I remember Matthew as a terrific skateboarder when I asked him to demonstrate his passion for this sport to a kindergarten class at Our Lady of Fatima. It added to to the little ones day. He was happy and marched to his own drummer. My hope is that he is demonstrating his many abilities entertaining heaven.
