Jean Paul Bissonnette Obituary

May 23, 1947 - February 11, 2025


Jean Paul Joseph Bissonnette aged 77, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025 at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Paul was born, and lived most of his life in North Bay with short stints in Toronto and Vancouver. North Bay was home.


Son of the late Anthony and Marie (Lafontaine) Bissonnette. Predeceased by his step-brother Noel Bissonnette, his sister Joanne Gioventu, and his daughter Sue Bissonnette.


Paul is survived by his life-partner Elsie Wilkinson; his loving sons Pete, and Eric; grandchildren Hunter, Liam, Jenna, Kayla, Hannah, and Joshua; his sister Suzy (Joseph) Peterson, brothers Geoffrey and Jim (Lyn Thompson).


Paul spent his working years in sales including many years at Canadian Bearings in North Bay.


Paul loved writing and recording music, building intricate miniature train villages, gardening, and “Bissonnette bocce”. His children were very important to him and he never hesitated to brag a little about them.



A celebration of Paul's life will take place on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Callander Legion. Family and friends are invited to join us in sharing stories and reminiscing about the beautiful memories we have of Paul.




In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Bay Regional Health Centre or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family would like to express their gratitude to the paramedics and staff at the Regional Health Centre for their compassionate care. Your kindness and support during this difficult time are truly appreciated.
