Obituary of Colleen Mary Alice McGuinty

Please share a memory of Colleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Passed away unexpectedly in North Bay, Monday July 5, 2021, at the age of 66. Loved daughter of Angie McGuinty and the late Maurice McGuinty. Dear sister of Fay Vincent, the late Maurice (wife Heather), Conway, Grant, Karen Sarlo, Everett (Seungwan), Darin, and Allyson. Colleen was dearly loved by her nieces and nephews Keely Vincent, Erin Feliz, Ashleigh Rizk, Skylar,  Blair, Madison, Jazlyn, Kelly Sarlo, and Andrew Sarlo. Colleen was a kind and compassionate person who had time for a polite conversation with everybody. Spending time with family at dinner gatherings was when Colleen was happiest, showing off her culinary skills. She had a soft spot for those who were less fortunate than others in life. In her early work years, she was employed by North Bay CTV News as a secretary, Employment Insurance Canada, and Bell Canada. She studied as a chef in London, England, before working on several boats, sailing the world, and enjoying every minute of it. Colleen opened a chocolate truffle home business, and loved her sweets. She attended mass regularly and was a Minister of the Eucharist, who served communion at the hospital and had a strong faith in God. In her later years, she struggled with anxiety and depression and succumbed to the stress of it. Our family strongly believes God loves all equally and Colleen has definitely found her peace and reward in heaven. Colleen’s wishes would be for donations to be dedicated to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Martyn Funeral Home, Wednesday, July 14 from 2:00-4:00 pm, and 6:30-8:30 pm. Due to the current pandemic restrictions which limit the number of visitors, those wishing to attend the visitation are asked to call the funeral home at 705-472-8810 to confirm an arrival time. A private funeral mass will be celebrated at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on Thursday. Interment at St. Mary's Cemetery.
