Stanley Lawrence Russell

RUSSELL, Stanley Lawrence

Stan passed away peacefully on Friday January 6th, 2023 after an evening of euchre with his friends at the Empire Living Centre in North Bay, Ontario. His family was blessed to recently enjoy a wonderful Christmas together with Stan.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 30 years Deirdre (nee Arnott) in 1994. He will be dearly missed by his children, Cindy Brownlee (Rob) of North Bay, and Becky Russell (Troy) of St. Louis, MO. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Diane Brownlee Smith (Adam), Sandra Brownlee, Eric Brownlee, Christopher Ball, Cassidy Ball, and Jordan Furrow (Andrew).

Stan was born July 12, 1939 to Susan and Thomas Russell at Mecunoma, Lount Township (also known as Bummer's Roost). Stan is predeceased by his brother Alfred Russell (Beth) and will be missed by his sister June Hall (Norm-deceased).

Through the years, Stan (and Deirdre) made great memories and shared many laughs with extraordinary friends, and Deirdre’s family. Stan retired almost 3 decades ago after a lifelong career with the Ministry of Transportation as a draftsman and land survey party chief. He enjoyed camping, bowling, curling, darts, country music and playing cards. He was active for many years with the Nipissing Country Music Association and was often found at Tim Hortons spending time with the coffee gang. Stan was a handyman to everyone and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed a home-cooked meal and never turned down an invitation.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 11th, 2023, at Martyn Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A service of remembrance will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, January 12th at 11 am followed by a light luncheon provided by the UCW group of Trinity.

If desired, donations to the Nipissing Country Music Association, the Trinity Food Shelf, or to a charity of your choice would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Online condolences at
