Obituary of Dorothy Mabel Hutchins

HUTCHINS – Dorothy Mabel Dorothy Mabel (Frederick) Hutchins, age 94, of North Bay, Ontario, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, shortly after enjoying a rare dessert indulgence. Born August 4, 1923, in Foss Mill, Ontario, she was the eldest child of Carl Frederick and Lela (Elliott) Frederick. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Orville Hutchins. She was also predeceased by her brother Gerry Frederick (Miriam), and sisters Ruby Guertin and Millie Piper (Ted). She is survived by her brother Butch Frederick (Yvette). Dorothy is remembered as an avid knitter, engaged political participant, eager student of computer technology, fierce bridge and euchre competitor, devoted treat baker, terrible Pictionary player, and exceptionally proud mother. Special thanks to her nephew Ken Frederick and his wife Ginette for their friendship and limitless computer support over the years. She is survived by daughter Lynda Draves and her husband Brian, along with grandchildren Tania Goodine (Steve), and Jeff Draves (Colleen Beauregard). She is lovingly remembered by her great grandchildren, Abbey Arrunategui (David), Jack Draves and Maddy Draves. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 15th, from 7:00-9:00pm and funeral service celebrating her life on Friday, March 16th at 3:30pm, both at Martyn Funeral Home, North Bay. Interment will follow at a later date at Terrace Lawn Cemetery. The family is grateful for the care provided by Dr. Birosch over many years starting when Dorothy was the very first patient in his new practice. Many thanks for the care and compassion in recent months from the teams at North Bay Regional Health Centre as well as Doon Retirement Village in Kitchener.
